Our Story
Three Generations of
Neighborly Service
In 1974, Arthur “Artie” Sterling bought a used truck, loaded it with tools, and started knocking on doors. His pitch was simple: “I'm your neighbor, and I'm here to help.” That spirit hasn't changed in over 50 years.

The Beginning
Arthur 'Artie' Sterling starts Neighborly Plumbers with one truck, a toolbox, and a promise to always treat customers like neighbors.
Growing Roots
The business expands to a team of four. Artie buys the shop on Friendly Lane that remains the company headquarters today.
Second Generation
Robert Sterling, who grew up riding along on service calls, earns his master plumber license and takes over the business.
Modernizing Tradition
Emma Sterling-Hayes joins the team, bringing modern business practices while preserving the family values that built the company.
Third Generation Complete
Jake Sterling completes his apprenticeship and joins full-time, specializing in water heaters and modern plumbing technology.
Still Your Neighbors
Three generations strong, still family-owned, still treating every customer like a neighbor. Some things are worth keeping the same.
What We Stand For
Honesty
We give you a straight answer and a fair price. If a $20 part fixes the problem, we won't sell you a $2,000 replacement.
Craftsmanship
We take pride in doing the job right the first time. Quality work means fewer callbacks and a home that runs smoothly.
Community
We sponsor little league teams, volunteer at the food bank, and show up for our neighbors — on and off the clock.
Family
This business is our family legacy. We treat your home with the same care and respect we'd give our own.
Meet the Sterling Family
Arthur "Artie" Sterling
Founder & Master Plumber
Artie started Neighborly Plumbers in 1974 with one truck and a handshake. Now retired from daily work, he still stops by the shop to share his wisdom with the team. His philosophy was simple: treat every customer like a neighbor.
Robert Sterling
Owner & Lead Plumber
Robert grew up riding along on service calls with his dad. He took over the business in 1998 and has expanded the team while keeping the same neighborly values. He's a master plumber with 30+ years of experience.
Emma Sterling-Hayes
Operations Manager
Emma joined the family business after earning her business degree. She modernized scheduling, launched the website, and keeps everything running smoothly behind the scenes. She's also a licensed apprentice plumber.
Jake Sterling
Service Technician
Jake is Robert's son and the newest Sterling to join the family trade. Specializing in water heaters and modern plumbing technology, he brings fresh ideas while respecting the traditions that made the business great.
